May 5, 2026
NOTE: Job 19:21-29 portrays Job’s transition from intense suffering to a profound hope in his living Redeemer who will ultimately vindicate him. The passage highlights Job’s desire for his words to be remembered, his conviction in seeing God, and his final warning to his friends, presenting a message of ultimate hope amidst despair.
- 21 “Oh, my friends, pity me, pity me, for the hand of God has struck me.
- 22 Why must you persecute me as God does? Why aren’t you satisfied with my flesh?
- 23 Oh, that my words were written! Oh, that they were inscribed in a book!
- 24 That they were engraved with an iron chisel and lead in the rock forever!
- 25 “But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and that he will stand upon the earth at last.
- 26 And after my body has decayed, this body shall see God!
- 27 Then he will be on my side! Yes, I shall see him, not as a stranger, but as a friend! What a glorious hope!
- 28 “How dare you go on persecuting me, as though I were proven guilty?
- 29 “I warn you, you yourselves are in danger of punishment for your sins.”
AMEN!
