Imagine sitting on the ocean in a rowboat, paddling along. No one out there except you. Alone. It is nice and quiet, and you are just just enjoying the day. You are peace with everyone. But then the wind starts picking up.

The waves are gradually getting bigger. The rowboat starts to be pulled out further into the ocean. You start turning the boat back towards shore using the oars, the waves pushing you towards the shore, but you keep looking back at the waves, hoping that they won’t capsize the boat.

That is how it feels when you are on your own without Jesus. When you try to take over and leave Him out of your life.

I have been a Christian for most of my life, more than 40 years following Him. But I have had times when I thought I could get away from Him and I didn’t need Him. When I tried to take control of the boat, I felt overwhelmed, saddened and afraid, and yes, angry at times. I said I don’t need you. But no matter how sad, frightened, afraid or angry I was, there was always a magnetic pull that kept pulling me back to Jesus. That magnetic pull is irresistible and I would always come back to Him, and He comforted me and told me it was okay.

When Jesus chooses YOU, you are HIS! No matter how far you go, if your life is anchored in Him, He will come and find YOU. Let go of the anger, fear, sadness, and all that goes along with it and give it to Him. Let go of the oars that keep you going in circles, and allow Jesus to take over and bring you back to a firmer faith, love, peace and forgiveness.

AMEN!

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” — Hebrews 6:19
