It all started in the very beginning.
“Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep… And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” — Genesis 1:2-3
Before God formed a single mountain or tree, He addressed the darkness.
The light did not have to debate the dark.
The light simply arrived, and the darkness had to flee.
But there is another kind of darkness that we face today.
It is a spiritual darkness, and many people have fallen deeply in love with it.
Jesus explained this exact battle to us:
“This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.” — John 3:19-20
When a heart is in love with the dark, the arrival of the light hurts.
It causes people to lash out, to scream, and to try to blow out the candle.
But the enemy is fighting a losing battle.
The light outshines the sun, and the darkness cannot overcome it.
If you are trapped in that dark place today, stop trying to fight the light.
Confess, step out of the shadows, and let the Savior wash the static off your line.
AMEN.
