Forgive me, I overslept this morning and am running a little late.

Isaiah 55:6-9. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Let’s start with Eliphaz’s response to Job and why they are flawed.

Misapplied Truth: Eliphaz speaks many true things about God’s majesty and justice, and implies that Job was at fault and God’s wrath was poured out on him. We know from the previous chapters that Job is blameless and that his suffering stems from a test allowed by God, not personal sin, therefore Eliphaz’s confident conclusions are entirely wrong.

Eliphaz made the mistake that many Christians today make; take a look at Galatians 6:7, Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Eliphaz reduces God’s justice to a simple formula: good behavior brings reward, and suffering brings punishment. This simplistic view fails to account for unmerited suffering or spiritual realities outside human sight.

Eliphaz sits with Job in silence for seven days, but he certainty based on his own limited experience rather than divine revelation. It serves as a classic example of how human logic and “common sense” often fail when trying to explain deep pain.
