Note: I am not going to be talking of scribes and their roles in writing the Bible. I am going in a different direction with this. I, like many others, feel a compulsion to write that is so strong that you cannot keep from doing so. Some of us are drawn to writing poetry, others history, stories and events, and so on and we are in good company with the writers of the Bible.

What I want to write down is that we are not the writer, but just the pen that Jesus holds. He uses us, not the other way around.

We are His instruments.

Without the ink that He provides us with, His Word, we are useless. When the inkwell is dry, how can we put down in words what He wants to say?

In order to write, we have to be available. We have to present ourselves as clean and acceptable to Him. If there is a clog in the pen, what use is it to the writer? None. It will leave spots on the paper, it will look messy. No one wants that. That piece of paper is worthless.

At least that what is the world says.

But we are not to be of this world. We have been saved by Jesus! We do have value!

We are HIS!

Yes, the pen can leak and leave spots on the paper. But I know a secret, and so do you, that those stains don’t matter! He forgave us and He willl take those stains away and YOU are clean again and ready to be used by HIM!

Now go and pick up your pen, it is clean and ready to be used. Now you can dip it into the inkwell and be used by Him!
