NOTE: We have been talking about people Jesus called to be witnesses and disciples.

Witnessing with authority from God means confidently sharing your faith not through your own cleverness, but by relying on the power of the Holy Spirit. It centers on reflecting the truth, character, and love of Jesus rather than demanding human control.

  • The Power of the Holy Spirit: Jesus promised His followers that they would receive power to be His witnesses when the Holy Spirit came upon them (Acts 1:8). This means your authority comes from His empowerment, not your own eloquence.
  • Speaking Truth with Boldness: Witnessing with authority requires speaking the Gospel fearlessly, as the Apostle Paul modeled. In 1 Thessalonians 2:2, Paul notes that they “had the boldness in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God.”
  • Life as a Testimony: Authentic spiritual authority is reinforced when your actions align with your words. Living a life of integrity and grace demonstrates that the message you share has genuinely transformed your life.
  • Reliance on the Word: The authority you carry comes directly from God’s Word, which is described as the “sword of the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:17). By anchoring your message in Scripture rather than personal opinion, you allow God’s truth to speak for itself.
  • Love and Humility: Divine authority is never about lording power over others. The Apostle Peter encourages believers to share their faith “with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15). God’s authority is most powerfully represented through a humble, loving, and serving attitude.
