I peek around the corner.

I am not certain I should do this.

“It’s okay.” A gentle voice calls.

No, I am not ready. But I want to.

The voice is patient. “Come to me.”

But I am not worthy.

“Yes, you are. Come and talk to me.”

I tell myself okay but I don’t know if I want to stay around. But the voice is so gentle and soothing.

I approach. But not too close.

Like a scared rabbit, ready to run away at the slightest noise.

I am here. I look at Him.

“Why are you afraid?” He asks.

“I have done a lot of bad things. How can you forgive someone like me?”
Ok, I think to myself, I have taken the first step. As I look at Him, my fear melts away.

I tell Him everything.

He holds me close and tells me “I am forgiven.”

My fear has disappeared.

Instead of fear, I am loved. I am accepted. I am His child now.
